This is a review of the case that I have recently bought for the iPad 2 which is something I have recently acquired in exchange of moneys. I am not going to be doing a review for the iPad just yet. I am taking down my notes and will be collating then into a post on the iPad in the near future. This is a review of the Marware CEO Hybrid case that I have bought for the iPad 2.
There are many reasons that I didn’t want to buy the standard Apple case. The biggest being that, it’s not a case. It’s just a flap. It doesn’t offer enough protection for the entire device. Secondly, the magnets are a gimmick that a lot of third party manufacturers have also incorporated into their cases, so that can’t affect my buying decision. In the end I wanted a case that offers protection and also doesn’t make me feel that I am getting ripped off.
The CEO Hybrid case is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a case that was made of a slightly rigid material that didn’t flex and I also wanted the case to have the least encroachments on the face of the iPad. The CEO Hybrid case fit this bill perfectly. Go through the images below to get a full photographic review of the case.
The build quality of the case is really nice. I like that if feels really solid in the hand and I feel really sure that in case of the usual bumps in daily use, the iPad will be very safe. A simple folio would not have made me as confident. The cutout on the sides of the case are also very solid and well made. These are usually the areas where the material starts showing the first signs of wear and tear. There are 2 clamps that need to be worked on when you want to incline the iPad. As of now these are very stiff, however, I am expecting them to loosen up slightly after a few weeks of use.
Onto the shots of the case with the iPad inside.
The case feels reassuringly solid in the hand. Oh, by the way, if all this is not enough, the lid also has the sleep / wake magnets that people seem to be really happy with, something that RIM has had in their cases since donkey’s ears.
